Today is the day when Americans should be celebrating Independence Day, the day when our founding fathers cast away the yoke of tyranny imposed by a cruel king and declared that they would have no more of it. However, the Republican party and the losers, thugs and miscreants whose loyalty to it is far greater than to the country itself have other ideas, and another agenda. They are going to seek to use this day to wrap themselves in the flag, attack their fellow Americans and to wage war against the very liberty for all that it is supposed to stand for.

The filthy fifths have a vested interest in the destruction of a more egalitarian society as their personal and family financial interests trump any such concept as patriotism or shared sacrifice for the good of the country as a whole, in fact they detest the very concept of America and the promise that it used to stand for prior to the ascension of the extreme right.

They are the ones who are shouting the loudest for others to die in foreign lands, they are the ones waving the flag the most vigorously while undermining all that it is supposed to stand for. The insistence of the most vile of all, the Republican party, a group that has come to symbolize the darkest of all American traits to 'wave the bloody flag' and tar all others as disloyal and tresonous is a low point in our nation's history. This made it especially nice to see the party's failure to mount a successful effort to implement a constitutional ban on flag burning. "Old Glory" lost today" moaned Senate Republican Leader Bill Frist, his latest crusade to amend our governing document to include language denying rights to Americans beaten back by only one vote.

Personally I am tired of the amount of fanatical raving by the red staters who run the government lock, stock and smoking gun barrel about their ideological jihad to drag the country back to the days prior to civil rights advances to a time where the `colored folks' knew their place, drank from their own water fountains, sat in the back of the bus, did not dare to defile the decent white folk with their presence in dining establishments, any `uppity niggers' who happened to complain would be dealt with in short order, likely finding themselves tortured, lynched or otherwise murdered for their `transgressions' against the established white supremacist ruling order.

In what is becoming an all too common focus on dog and pony shows orchestrated to attack Democrats and to otherwise paralyze the `House of Frist' the U.S. Senate today was tied up with the latest effort by the Republican one-party government to piss away time and money pandering to their base over yet another divisive issue that means absolutely dick. With our troops taking fire in a foreign land to ostensibly bring a repressed people such democratic values as `freedom of speech' the Frist Senate is once again engaged in doing everything that they possibly can in order to repress it in the homeland and just in time for the Fourth of July, of course I would never accuse Bill Frist of anything so cynical (sardonic laughter) and manipulative of American passions.

Get ready for another week of the Republicans ratcheting up their demagoguery. They will be coming out of their corner swinging over dissent on Iraq while screeching like banshees, spitting out pejoratives like `unpatriotic' and `traitor' at the top of their lungs and draping their fascst asses in red, white and blue bunting. These are the marching orders from the Washington Wolfsschanze and Herr Rove,our minister of propaganda. Loyalist GOP goon Peter King, the Muslim bashing, America hating berserker from Long Island (famous for the sordid Amy Fisher-Joey Buttafuoco tabloid tale several years back) is leading the charge with his promise to write a letter to the Torquemada Gonzalez' Justice Department requesting that a probe of the hated New York Times be initiated and that everybody from the editor down to the janitors be hauled in front of an inquisition and charged with treason for the paper's part in breaking stories about more illegal spying operations by the Bush-Cheney syndicate.

The beauty of the blogosphere is that one can be truly independent. Since most of us are doing this for no compensation and in our spare time we are not compelled to march to the beat of anybody else's drummer or to show acquiescence to any particular view or political party. Hey, when I can praise David Brooks of The New York Times one day as I did by including his quotes in my recent post `The Class War At Home' and today denounce him as the asshole lackey that he really is 99 % of the time,that is truly freedom. That is the beauty of blogging. I have the ability to be as independent as I choose to be and to have loyalty to nothing other than the truth. In Brooks' latest column which bears the snarky title of "Obey The Kos" he savagely attacks Markos Moulitsas Zúniga of the wildly popular liberal website `Daily Kos' with extreme prejudice, jacked-up vitriol and dripping elitist condescension, with this sort of  `endorsement' it is very obvious that the blogosphere has officially arrived.

In the mass media frenzy over the alleged domestic terrorist plot of seven Miami based losers who would be lucky to be able to knock off a grocery story to launch an Islamic jihad in America that would include bringing down the 108 story, 1,729 foot tall Sears Tower in Chicago one little thing has been ignored.

The entire thing stinks of a mass media setup to go along with the GOP push to utilize Iraq/The GWOT as the `Us vs Them' issue come November and prevent the possibility of an angry Democrat controlled congress with subpoena power for George W. Bush's final two years in office but there is one thing that is not being addressed.

Karl Rove has very subtly played the race card. People miss the point, this isn't about terrorism at all but about stirring the long simmering pot of American racism that is only more spicy now due to a growing anger and a need for traditional scapegoats.

Karl Rove, his consorts in the one-party Republican congress and their concubines and harlots in the mainstream media have executed an enormously successful misdirection play, a nearly perfect double-reverse, flea-flicker with the clock running down and a Double MacGuffin to boot. With all of the focus being on painting the lipstick on the pig that is the Iraq War in order to transform it into a prom queen.

The porcine propagandist Karl Rove is back in full demagogic campaign mode again and warming up for the slash and burn, steel cage death match of the mid-term elections. Rove stood up and impugned the credibility of Democrats, presumably including those currently in service to this country in Iraq as well as all veterans of all wars past when he in front of  New Hampshire gathering of Kool-Aid drinking Republicans he denounced Dems as those that:

"give the green light to go to war, but when it gets tough, they fall back on that party's old platform of cutting and running. They may be with you for the first few bullets, but they won't be there for the last tough battles."

This is always the way that these chickenhawks work, during last week's disgraceful mockery of a `debate' on a Rovian resolution linking Iraq to the GWOT and allowing for the 'with us or against us' tag come election time, Fat Denny Hastert had the audacity to stand up and with all three of his chins quivering say that:

"We in congress must show that same steely resolve as those men and women on United Flight 93"

Domino's isn't the only one that delivers, if recent reports out of China are true a specially equipped `Death Van' could soon be headed to your very own home. In a particularly macabre story from USA Today it was recently reported that the Chinese government is now utilizing mobile execution units or `death vans' to dispatch with criminals and more than likely in keeping with tradition, other enemies of the state including any dissidents that are not destined for slave labor factories to produce ever more cheap shit for export to your local Wal Mart.

There was much weeping and gnashing of the teeth with todays official announcement that Karl Rove had escaped indictment for his role in the treasonous outing of CIA Agent Valerie Plame It is Likely that he cut a deal or ratted someone out but even more likely is that the Gonzalez Justice Department moved speedily to intervene the process around the same time that Jason Leopold's scoop for `Truthout.org' hit the blogosphere and was immediately discredited much like an ugly replay of the immolation of Dan Rather by the big red team. The Democrats, like Sisyphus were doomed to be crushed by the rolling stone of futility...some things never change.
